Did you know that common issues could be signs of parasites affecting your health? Here are some common symptoms of parasite infections.
Intense Sugar Cravings: Parasites can influence the host's cravings (The host being you, hosting the parasite which is feeding on your food).
Rectal itching: itchy rectum 100% you have parasites. Super common in children who then share with the whole family.
Constipation or Diarrhea: Some parasites, like Giardia, can cause chronic diarrhea, while others may result in constipation by causing intestinal blockages or releasing an enzyme within the gut that slows motility. They also affect the balance of your microbiome, cause inflammation, and cause things like IBS and SIBO or small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, and leaky gut.
Other related symptoms are Gas and Bloating: Parasites living in the gut can irritate the intestinal lining. As your body tries to get rid of them, it will cause even more gas and bloating.
Teeth Grinding: parasitic infections, particularly in children, can be associated with teeth grinding often during sleep.
Anxiety or Depression: parasites can impact mental health by causing chronic stress, nutritional deficiencies, and inflammation.
Insomnia: Parasitic infections can disrupt sleep patterns either through causing physical discomfort, such as abdominal pain or itching, or via stress and anxiety.
Lastly Brain Fog: Parasitic infections can lead to brain fog by causing nutritional deficiencies, chronic inflammation, and disrupting the gut-brain axis. This can show up as difficulty concentrating, memory problems, or a lack of mental clarity.
The most important thing to remember about parasites is that they usually aren’t the only thing going on – the question I ask as a doctor is WHY. Why were those little buggers able to get past your immune system and take up residence in your body? Is it mold toxins in your body super common making you a good place for those parasites to live? OR something else.
